Page 10 MFL News Despite being in lockdown we still managed to get post from our penfriends in France for 9Fr1. The cards opposite were posted out to relevant students during lockdown, who eagerly awaited the post at home. As our topic in Year 9 over lockdown was focused on where we live, our student respsones were set to be both personal and very geographical! Rachael Lawrance MFL Pen Pals Ms Pickup tasked our year 7 scientists with a home practical to measure their lung volume. This particular kitchen experiment took a lot of effort and had the potential to be very messy considering the volume of water involved... Photos of Leo Legg, Rose Hawksley and Elsie Bright engaged in their science. Well done all! Our homegrown scientists Our Students #16 in World! In the Autumn Term, the Kevicc MFL Faculty started using Languagenut with their students. This is an online platform, on which students can complete a huge range of activities to develop their confidence and knowledge in MFL, earning points for any activities they complete. The students can compete against each other, and also against hundreds of other schools across the world. We award monthly prizes to the top student in each class and top 5 across the school. In December, we reached 16th in the world as a school! This is a fantastic achievement and shows how well our students have engaged with this resource. Of special note are Alana Pope and Elizabeth Read in Year 9 who reached the top 20 in the Individual world student league, and Louis Zawadski in Year 11, who has regularly appeared in the top 3 students in school throughout the year. If any students would like to use this resource, just email your MFL teacher and they will be able to let you know your username and password. We’re hoping to make the top 10 in the world next!
