Page 18 Page 24 Victor's Story Felix: First off, who are you and where have you come from? Victor : My name is Victor. I come from Ukraine. Felix : How did you get here Victor? Victor : So, when the war started I got here with my family to escape from it. It was quite a big journey definitely. But I'm really glad to be here in Devon. Felix : How is school different here inTotnes, compared to Kyiv? Victor : Well the first thing I noticed is how free it is here. In Kyiv I had seven lessons a day, five times a week. Here I have three a day. I feel wonderful! Felix : What do you miss most about your home? Victor : Family, friends and the nature, because that's different here. Felix : What do you enjoy about being in the countryside here in Devon? Victor : Fresh air and that feeling of freedom. Nothing is holding you back. But it's a little bit uncomfortable getting into town from Dartington, especially in bad weather! Felix : What's been positive and negative about the experience of coming over here to the UK? Victor : I always dreamed of going to the UK, but never knew it would have happened in such sad circumstances. Of course I miss my friends, my family, my culture, my language even, but there have been so many things I have learnt here for sure, which has made it more than worth it. An Interview by Felix Partridge Victor's story is an inspiring one. With the outbreak of war in Europe, he and his family moved to Dartington last year. It has been an honour and a privilege to welcome Victor and many other students into the college from Ukraine. Here, Felix Partridge, who hopes to take up photo journalism at university, interviews Victor about his journey to us, his time with us and his hopes for the future... Felix : What are your hopes for the future? Victor : I aim to go to medical school. I hope to become a good doctor to help people. That is my dream.
