We were delighted by our outcomes. Our A level results in 2019 placed us in the top 12% of all schools nationally, including selective and independent colleges. On average our students achieved a quarter of a grade above their targets, or a progress score of +0.25. The Department for Education call this ‘above average’ progress. The average grade our students achieved last year was a B- compared to the Devon and whole country average of a C+. Our 2019 performance places us ahead of many independent and selective schools locally. We are so proud of the outcomes our students and teachers can achieve in a comprehensive, inclusive setting. You can check out our results in more detail by visiting the DfE website. Alan Salt said "Obviously, we are delighted with our recent A-Level results and the publication of this data showing how this compares with other schools and colleges highlights how excellent the results were. They are a testament to the hard work, dedication and commitment of our wonderful students, staff and parents. These results also reinforce the view from our recent Ofsted inspection that KEVICC is a good school which in the words of Ofsted is "relentless in its pursuit of better outcomes for pupils". We are aware that academic results are a relatively narrow measure of the overall package we provide to students but these results, when combined with the range of other opportunities we offer children in their time here, and the truly comprehensive, inclusive nature of the College demonstrate we are able to deliver the wide and balanced curriculum our students deserve, while also achieving excellent academic results." Top 12% of all schools One of the best in Devon Above : Sam, Huw and Mia - three of our brilliant current Year 13 taking their exams in May this year. Reinforcing our Ofsted Poetry Brighton The sea sprayed foam into my face, As I walked along the pebbled beach The marigold sun met with the seas horizon, As the sky turned slowly to darkness. The evening rays of sun shone through the houses, Creating stripes of light and shadow on the path The wind rippled through my hair, The sails of the boats flailing like a fish out of water The fish darted like orange flames, Vibrant against the pebbled pond. The bamboo rattled like a snake, Its leaves scattered around the garden. By Lyra Cooper, Year 8
