Page 24 Name: Gillian Healey Type of Governor: Co-Opted Governor When I joined the Board: July 2019 Link role: PE Faculty Link Committee I sit on: Operations A bit about myself: I've been a graphic designer for almost 30 years - a career which has allowed me to travel the world before settling in Totnes 14 years ago. If I'm not at my mac, you'll find me on the Coast Path, Dartmoor, street dancing or challenging my limits with cold water swimming. My daughter is in year eight and is thriving at KEVICC. I felt I wanted to give something back to the community and being a governor is the perfect opportunity to do this. What I hope to offer to KEVICC: I'm entrenched within the professional community in Totnes, and I'm hoping to use those connections and experience to help support KEVICC in any way I can. I'll be keeping an open mind, offering practical solutions, and asking questions. I believe KEVICC is the best school for the whole community, and I want to get the message out there about how passionate the teachers are about inspiring students to find their own path. First impressions / My time so far: It has been and continues to be a steep learning curve. I'm naturally creative, and academia is an area where I find myself outside of my comfort zone, but that's where I tend to thrive. I've noticed how powerful it is to have a governing body which is made up of people from different experiences, backgrounds and perspectives. I'm not sure I will ever remember all the acronyms! I'm also learning so much frommy fellow dynamic governors who are working towards a common goal. It's also a rewarding experience meeting and getting to know the staff who are incredibly dedicated to the students.
