KEVICC Courier Spring

Being Community The Green Table Our BTEC Art & Design students met with the curators behind the Green Table and Dartington Arts in January. Together they chose a range of prints and pieces to be displayed in the cafe during early Spring. Youth can make a difference! King Edward VI Community College students have been fully involved in our local Youth Can Make a Difference forum. Coming together as a group of young people who want to make a positive difference in Totnes, the forum is all about: Creating a time and place for young people to come together to share their experiences, views and discuss issues relevant to them. Building in strategies to support each other and learning important skills like debating and reasoning. Linking up to local services such as the local police, youth clubs and foodbank, to explore community safety issues and help to lower youth crime. Creating a place where institutions, organisations and policy makers can listen to young people. Promoting and supporting our future young leaders in the local community. The forum meets every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month in, Kennicott Library, King Edward VI Sixth Community College, Totnes, TQ9 5JX between 3:30- 5:30pm. Read about the latest Youth Can Make a Difference activities on pages 30 and 31. Art in the Square A wonderful collaboration, these incredible mosaics produced by local artist Michelle Greenwood- Brown incorporate work produced by our students. The panels have now been installed in Totnes Market Square. Page 2 Yoga Classes Our staff continue to enjoy weekly yoga sessions at the college. Nev Cregan from Totnes Yoga Massage , a former KEVICC parent, has run the sessions here at KEVICC. A key component to our wellbeing initiative, the Monday afternoon sessions have proved a great success.
