Careers, Information, Advice and Guidance
All students are required to have, as part of their studies, input on future careers. This is ordinarily delivered through the PSHE programme. In Years 7 and 8, the focus is very much about the development of the individual as a person, identification of strengths and weaknesses, and how to make appropriate choices
The focus on Year 9 is very much about option choices, and there is a great deal of advice and guidance offered in the PSHE programme as well as individually by tutors, senior staff and Independent Careers Advisers. In addition, there are a number of days offered by a range of external providers.
In Year 10 and 11, the focus is on preparation for work experience and on Post 16 choices and in the Sixth Form on Post 18 choices. Students can speak to their Tutor to find out how they can access information, advice and guidance from an Independent Careers Adviser in school. Representatives from a range of FE, HE and vocational areas are also in school at various times during the year to advise on their respective options.
