Year 7 and 8 pupils spent
Curriculum

Day reading books and listening to talks by a variety of people – including the author Helen Raphael
Sands. It was a huge success and they raised lots of money for the Roald Dahl Cancer Charity!
Molly Dorey said:
I really enjoyed doing the Readathon. I love reading and I found that this day
was very encouraging and made me enjoy reading even more! Although we didn’t just read: we had
some amazing people come in and tell us some stories – which were great! I really,
really want to do it again next year!
Maisie Vallance echoed these sentiments, saying:
I LOVED Readathon! It was so
much fun and I really enjoyed the story that was read to us. It was very interesting.
Also, I read loads and had a quiet and peaceful time reading lots of new books
.
• Around 3,000 schools are involved every year, encouraging
around 750,000 pupils to love reading.
• 30 major hospitals across the UK receive regular deliveries of
brand new books from Readathon, reaching 100,000 hospitalised
children each year.
• Thousands of seriously ill children have benefited through our
partner charities.

Celebrating World Book Day on Thursday
3 March, twenty-eight students were
chosen to be part of a live screening of an
interview with Robert Muchamore (one
of our most read children’s authors), who
was answering some of the questions from
those sent in by students nationally.
