Courier Spring 2016 - page 31

Hannah
Gorman
has left KEVICC
after three years
to live in Australia:
definitely our loss
and their gain!
She is recognised
as an excellent
p r a c t i t i o n e r ,
as she has already completed the
‘Outstanding Teacher Programme’ and
disseminated her good practice within
the science team, as well as more
widely through the College. Equally at
ease with learners of all abilities, she is
clearly popular with staff and students
alike. She has an amazing capacity to
make the difficult things look easy.
Hannah is an excellent colleague,
supportive, funny, dedicated to her
vocation and brutally honest when it
matters. She will leave an Uluru-sized
gap in the science team but we wish
her every success.
Stuart Ruffle
Isaac joined the
SEN team to work
with students with
complex
physical
needs in 2012. It
was quickly obvious
to everyone that
he had the most
amazing capacity
for care and understanding of young
people, and especially of those with
additional needs. He worked hard
at building good relationships with
students and staff. He was always
'calmness personified' and always the
professional. As a kind champion of
young people., he has counselled and
supported many students, enabling
them to make excellent progress in the
College.

We welcomed Colin
as Acting Joint Team
Leader of Music in
the Autumn and, as
in other times as part
of the Department,
he brought us his
huge enthusiasm for
Music, together with
his incredible organisational skills. As
well as all his teaching lessons and
normal school duties, Colin organised
a number of concerts, including the
spectacular Christmas and Winter
concerts at the end of last year,
engaging a variety of students and
members of the community. He has
been a key member of staff in the
Performing Arts and Music Department
and we all wish him the best of luck in
of his future adventures! AnnaChadwick
A
huge
thank
you to wonderful
Andrea for all of the
help and support
she has provided
in her time with us
but, most of all, for
her friendship and
kindness. Andrea
is unfailingly calm and positive –
always there with the help and support
needed; frighteningly organised and
quietly talented. She is now at Stover
School and will be missed hugely by
her friends and colleagues at KEVICC
but we wish her happiness and success.
Look out, Stover, you do not yet know
how organised you are about to
become!!

Ellie has worked as
an LSA at KEVICC
since 2006 with
a patience and
understanding of
students'
needs,
especially
those
on the Autistic
Spectrum. She is
innovative in her ideas to best support;
introducing the idea of ‘log books’ to
help manage and regulate emotional
behaviours within college. She is kind
and considerate of people’s needs and
has been a calming influence on those
students with whom she has worked,
some of whom will still see her at the
Kool Club she leads on Saturdays. She
has been a valued member of the team
and we wish her well.
The SEN Team
At
KEVICC,
Gabriella has
worked both
as an LSA
and,
more
recently, as
a
Literacy
S p e c i a l i s t ,
t a k i n g
small groups of students herself and
planning and delivering her own
lessons. Recently, she transformed
the Accelerated Reader Programme
through her intelligence, ability to work
with statistics and to analyse data, and
her sensible and consistent approach.
She is dedicated, conscientious and
flexible, and students have found
her always approachable, yet firm.
Gabriella is also enormously good fun
and will be hugely missed in the whole
College – and especially as part of the
English team.

Lizzie has a high level
of dedication and
professionalism, plus
an excellent rapport
with students. Her
firm, but fair, attitude
– that they like and
respect – ensured high
quality programmes
of learning could be developed. As well
as establishing good class protocols in
the Food Technology, she also offered
extra-curricular activities to support
student learning and achievement.
This included a weekly lunchtime
session where students could complete
practicals or gain personalised support
and action planning. Her care for
her students was clear to see, as she
liaised with staff, parents and other
educationalists. She has been a great
asset in her time here.

Lizzie Tuckett ~ Food Tech.
In the short time
she has been with
us as an LSA Thrive

has formed positive
and
professional
relationships
with
the students she has
been supporting. She
has been a popular member of the LSA
Team and will be missed by colleagues
and the students she supported. We
wish her every success for the future.

own Canadian, will
be greatly missed.
She joined us last
September to teach
KS3 and KS4 History
& KS5 Government
