In
2005
Julie
joined Kennicott
as their EMA*
and
Attendance
Officer.
She
brought excellent
previously gained
experience to the
role and worked
professionally with all students, parents
and staff. She is a true friend of the whole
Kennicott Team with a great sense of
humour and will be missed greatly by all.

Some of our long-serving Staff Leavers
We welcome ...
Sarah Grainger ~ History Department
I completed my History degree at the University of
Sheffield specialising in the wartime experiences of
Plymouth citizens during the Blitz. I worked for three
years at Exeter Cathedral as the Education Officer,
engaging children and adults as part of a Heritage
Lottery Funded project. I then completed my PGCE
at the University of Exeter. I am passionate about
20th century history and using real artefacts to
learn about the past. I am very excited to be joining
such a vibrant department and I look forward to working with enthusiastic
students to develop their love of history.
In my spare time, I enjoy crafting, hiking and supporting Plymouth Argyle
(sometimes not so enjoyable!). I have a cat called Io who I recently taught
to high five!
Jonathan Brooks ~ English Department
I am really looking forward to
joining the staff and students
at KEVICC in September. I
have heard so many good
things about the school, from
its brilliant exam results, to
the wonderful range of extra-
curricular activities and events.
The school clearly has a caring
ethos and that suits my own approach to teaching and
learning. I believe that all students have a contribution
to make, and a voice to be heard. I hope that my
passion for reading and writing also inspires students
to enjoy their learning experiences in my classes.

He leaves us to become Tavistock’s
Head of English, a role for which he
was vociferously head hunted! We are
extremely proud of him. It is never easy
to follow Brad into a role as he creates
an instant and lasting impression on his
colleagues and students. In fact, I am
sure it will be impossible to replace him.

range of extra-curricular clubs as well as
running many trips for the school such as
the London Olympics.
In 2012 Kerrie was promoted to Vocational
Co-ordinator, and had the responsibility
of overseeing all BTEC courses across a
range of courses. Kerrie became the guru
in vocational subjects, so much so that
colleagues from other schools sought her
out for advice as well.
Kerrie has always welcomed a challenge,
such as organising Sport Relief mile event
in PE lessons and the London Marathon.
She is extremely supportive of her
colleagues and nothing is ever too much
for her when it comes to this.
Kerrie will leave a huge gap in our team,
our hearts and our school when she leaves
at the end of this summer term.
Carly Perring
Brad has been at
the College since
2006. He has always
been an extremely
dedicated
and
c o n s c i e n t i o u s
member
of
the
team, giving 110%
for his students
in both English
and Media Studies. He is famous for his
terrifyingly tidy classroom(and cupboard)
and, in fact, his teaching and leadership
roles have always been characterised by
awesome organisation and beautiful,
thoroughly researched and precisely
presented information, reports and
resources. Uniquely, he compliments this
almost obsessively tidy behaviour with a
hilarious and shocking sense of humour
and a complete flexibility. He adapts to
any role and takes on challenges with
ease and enthusiasm. He is never thrown
by the unexpected and takes every curve
ball in his stride.
Brad has held a number of roles in the
College: KS3 and KS4 English co-ordinator,
Head of Year and Assistant Principal.

Heather Mulhall ~ admin.
Julie McNamara ~ admin.
Heather
has
been the English
admin. assistant
since the Labour
G o v e r n m e n t ’ s
policy
which
sought to allow
teachers to teach
by removing a lot
of the admin. work from their role. That
policy has been a happy but distant
memory for several years but Heather has
remained as the PA to both me and the
Head of Maths, taking on with terrifying
efficiency any administrative jobs that
have fallen onto our desks before we have
even been aware of their urgency.
Heather is quite simply a gem. She has
hemmed my skirt, dried my tears, taken
me for dinner to celebrate the frantic
annual coursework submission, written
and sent my letters before I even knew
they needed sending, and kept everyone
happy and able to teach without
distractions. To say she will be missed is a
huge understatement. But I hope she will
remain my personal advisor for ever, with
me taking her for dinner just as regularly
as she has taken me in the past.

In her time here,
Katie has proven
herself
again
and again to be a
calm, thoughtful
presence
being
heavily involved,
over many years,
i n s u p p o r t i n g
the work of the Design & Technology and
Science Departments. She is incredibly
talented when it comes to deciphering
teacher scribbles and hieroglyphics. She
is always meticulous and efficient in her
work, and she has been central to the
successes of these teams over the past
thirteen years. Katie has a very caring
nature, good sense of humour and her
absence next year will be greatly felt by
staff and students alike. We wish her well.
David Irish
This year, Katie allowed herself to be
persuaded to transfer to the data/exams
team. She has coped magnificently
with learning an incredible amount in
a few months – the realisation of how
frequently some departments change
their groups, whichmeans all the registers
need updating; the work required behind
the scenes to produce student progress
reports; the amount of running around
needed to oversee exams on three sites
– although this has at least been good
fitness training for her weekly netball
matches! She has coped at everything
thrown at her efficiently and good humour
and is a pleasure to work with. She will be
missed here and we wish her all the best
for the future.
