The KEVICC Company piece
How
Much You Mean To Me
was a real
highlight of SPRUNG this year, not
just because of the quality of cho-
reography (which, as an examiner of
A level work, I have to say was of an
A* standard) but also for the sheer
passion and dedication, and sense
of family, the piece gave off. The De-
partment is excited by the introduc-
tion of this 'vertical' A level group this
year. The students have really been
demonstrating how well this works
in terms of the enormous learning
curve they have made, and how the
work they do has become fuelled
by their sense of togetherness and
team work. The company that meet
every Monday is purely student-led,
this year by Phoebe Clark and Ciaran
Trimming, who have taught and cho-
reographed a really diverse group of
passionate and dedicated students.
The students in year 10 were fresh
out of their fast track GCSE dance
last year and we put it to them at a
parents' evening that we were keen
to start a two year AS dance course,
with learning alongside the year 12
dancers. They were keen and nervous!
Since then, we have watched them
get to know and embrace the age
difference as a really positive thing,
promoting not only their dance skills
but their social flexibility. The year
12s loved imparting their experience
and this has really embedded their
knowledge, as well as keeping them
on their toes
(pun!)
. The students who
continue as dancers understand that
their knowledge has to be far reach-
ing because the aim is always to be
innovative, unique and to touch the
hearts and minds of the culture they
are a part of.

I am so incredibly proud of all the
students who took part in SPRUNG
Defined this year. The professional-
ism amongst our students was pro-
found. The variety of classwork, ex-
amination and extra-curricular work
from year 7 to year 13 demonstrated
the motivation, dedication and skill
from every dancer. I watched the
show with a real sense of pride and
feel blessed to teach these talented
individuals here at KEVICC.
Well Done Everyone

I loved every minute; the finale was my
favourite part because the high energy
gave it a party atmosphere.
