PGCE Trainee Jacquie Avis writes:
This half term, my year 7 class has been studying
Shakespeare texts –
A Midsummer Night’s Dream
and
The
Tempest.
They have produced some amazing work, including
posters, poems, analysis of quotes and extracts in the play,
incredible homework from Becky (who really made her
desert island letter authentic and 'weather-beaten'), and
put together some amazing drama, where they recreated
or reinvented classic scenes from these plays. The photos
are just a sample of work, and I hate to pull out just a few
names because they have ALL worked fantastically.
Whoever said Shakespeare was boring?!
They should come and see how these year 7s have
embraced it AND understood it. We have had so much fun
with this, and I have to also comment on Paddy for his
incredible versatility with voices when reading parts from
the play.
I am only here for a total of six months, and I leave at the
end of June. I will always remember this class for their
enthusiasm and love of English and their incredible talent
for producing work which could easily pass as work from
at least year 9.
This has been a fabulous school to do my final fewmonths
of training in before Imove on tomy own classes in another
school. I have loved all the classes I have been given, and
have learned as much from some of the students as I hope
they’ve learned from me. They have been a joy to teach,
and I will take these fond memories with me when I leave.
And I must also thank the wonderful staff of KEVICC too
for all their fantastic support.
