Fund raising > Whizz-kidz
Four KEVICC teachers – Kerrie O'Neill, Nicola
Wright, Sarah McGinnis and Carly Perring –
have set themselves the challenge of running
the London Marathon! They are hoping
to raise £6000 for the charity
Whizz-kids,
who seek to transform the lives of disabled
children and young people into having the
freedom to enjoy an active childhood with
adapted mobility equipment, wheelchair
training, advice and life skills – giving
children the independence to be kids.

Well done to all that took part!!
Sara Weymouth, from the Cover
Office, ran a cake stall to raise
money for Whizz-kidz, with lots
of support from staff who baked
amazing cakes, buns and biscuits.
She had a busy time selling
them one break time and was
delighted to raise just over £150.
The
Marathon
runners-in-training
also
organised a car boot sale during half term,
raising even more money to add to the total
they are hoping to reach during the Year.
Staff took part in Macmillan Cancer Support's annual
World's Biggest Coffee Morning this term during break
and lunch times.
They cooked, sold, bought and ate cakes in the Elmhirst
staff room and collected £128.38 towards the £18.5
million Macmillan have raised so far (hoping to beat the
record £20 million raised at last year's event).
Years 7 and 8 were delighted to make a donation of
almost £500 to Rowcroft Hospice, their chosen charity for
the year, to Heather Norman-Soderlind.
Tutor groups organised fund-raising over several months
with a variety of innovative ideas including inviting people
to give money to sponsor the planting of a native tree and
selling elderflower cordial (with elderflowers picked by
students and the cordial made by the Catering staff) on
Sports Day.
