Four lucky BTEC Sport students - Amy Lewis, Elsa Perry,
Lilly Goddard and Warren Lethbridge had the opportunity
this term to develop their leadership skills on a training day
hosted by the South Devon Schools' Sports Partnership.
The focus for the day was on inclusive sport; the students
learned about how to promote and advertise events in
their area, and how best to reach their audience, whilst
understanding how Activities and Sports can be adapted to
be inclusive to all.
They also had the opportunity to meet Paralympic athletes
Kate Grey (swimmer), Justine Moore (fencer) and World Table
Tennis medallist Tyler Paul.

There are only

weeks to go until
the Marathon and, according to the
experts, we should be running about
16miles a week at this stage. Although
she pretends otherwise, we know Sarah
McGinnis has been training really
hard, religiously heading out for a
run every weekend. Kerrie O’Neill and
Carly Perring, on the other hand, are a
little further behind and, despite this,
Kerrie is still adamant that she will
win the KEVICC battle! Fundraising is
going well with each member of staff
having raised approximately £1,200
out of their £1,600 target.
Collections were made for Whizz-
kidz when KEVICC students
performed during Late Night
Shopping in Totnes, and over
£100 was raised by donations
at the Christmas Concert.
AND
staff volunteered to help year 13
student Lydia Beardsmore raise an
incredible £313.13 for Whizz-kidz
at a lunchtime karaoke last term.
Finally, a huge thanks to Sara,
Musky, Lorna, Tash and all other
staff who helped raise an amazing
£130 at our latest cake sale.

Rowing Success
Congratulations to Matt Swiss (year 12) who
won this year’s West of England Regional Indoor
Rowing Championships at UCP Marjon.
His dedication to training is really paying off as he
has also been scouted by Yale, the American Ivy
League University.
