Tag Rugby Festivals
Handball Festivals
Primary Football League
KS1 Multi-skills Festival
The first of many events in the busy
sporting calendar we are planning,
were two TagRugby Festivals for years
3 and 4, organised and delivered by
our year 10 Junior Sports Leaders.
Over two hundred primary children
came from Dartington, South Brent
and The Grove, and the staff said their
pupils really enjoyed the festival and
cannot wait until the next one. There
were massive smiles and high fives
all round as they left!
Such was our enthusiasm that not even 'The Big Winter
Freeze' could stop us! Over the course of two bitterly
cold February mornings over three hundred year 5 &
6 children from Broadhempston, Dartington, Diptford,
Harbertonford, Landscove, South Brent, The Grove, and
St. John's braved the harsh conditions to come to KEVICC
and take part in a Handball Festival on the Astro. They
came to practice their dribbling, passing and shooting
skills, as well as playing in a full game of handball and
learning the value of team work and fair play.
The Totnes Learning Community Primary School Football
League returned with a bang when eight teams arrived
at KEVICC for the first round, full of the optimism that
accompanies the start of a new season.
Returning teams from last year's competition, which
included defending champions Landscove, St. John's,
South Brent, and The Grove, were joined by new teams
fromDartington and Stoke Gabriel, and the scene was set
for a thrilling round of games. The football was fantastic;
the supporters were out in force and there were
ooooohs,
ahhhhhs
, cheers and chants on all three pitches.
The first Key Stage 1 Multi-Skills Festival of the year was held
in December at KEVICC. Nearly two hundred pupils attended
from Berry Pomeroy, Broadhempston, Dartington, Diptford,
Harbertonford, Landscove and Stoke Gabriel. The event was
planned, organised and delivered by our Year 10 Junior Sports
Leaders who had special training to help them prepare for the
event. The activities that they came up with were designed
to help the Primary pupils to explore physical movements,
improve hand and eye co-ordination; develop mental capacity
and think about healthy lifestyles. There were ten different
stations which enabled pupils to throw beanbags at targets;
dance to music; explore balance, rolling and travelling; striking
implements and many others.
The activities
were brilliant!!
The children thoroughly enjoyed the
festival; we can’t wait for the next one!
