Christmas Concert December 2014
Hearing Bob Chilcott’s A Little Jazz
Mass performed in the incredible
setting and beautiful acoustic
which St. John's Church offers, sent
shivers down my spine. It was so
lovely to see staff, students, parents
and public unite in such a soulful
and engaging piece of music. I
cannot wait to see what next year
brings.
Nicky Hansford
Parents and friends immersed
themselves in the many rehearsals
leading up to this spirited and
hearty sing and were received
warmly by the audience
.
Wendy Newman
The Mass swings along in the jazz
style and was the perfect piece for
singers of all abilities in all vocal
parts.

As the centrepiece of our Christmas
concert in December, art teacher
Wendy Newman led a choral
collaboration of Bob Chilcott's
A
Little Jazz Mass
with the College’s
Jazz Band, run by Lewis Riley.
Well done to KEVICC staff and ex-students for singing
'O Holy Night'. It’s so lovely to see them having a go at
performing too .
Year 12 student
As always it was lovely to be part of the Christmas event.
I am lucky to play in the Percussion Ensemble and we
performed an arrangement of 'Away in a Manger' on
glockenspiels, arranged by Kathy Banks, our percussion
teacher.

We did it, Miss, we did it! And they loved it.

The Christmas concert is always something to look
forward to and really gets you into the Christmas
spirit!! Getting a chance to play such beautiful pieces in
a proper orchestra and choir is such a good experience
and seeing your playing being so well appreciated and
enjoyed by the audience always really boosts your
confidence! This year all the music students - every
student, whatever age - had the chance to be involved
in a variety of groups: the orchestra, a jazz choir, a
musical theatre group, a percussion ensemble, and
even a folk club! This really taught us a lot about music
and its different styles, as well as finding out we loved
some music pieces we had never even heard of before!
