Courier - Autumn 2014 - page 18

Our Dart Watershed exhibition ran from
29 September to 16 October as part of
Big Draw 2014 and included art created
and inspired by the wonderful river
Dart since October 2013. The exhibition
spanned all generations and included
our work with primary schools; our
own students and work produced
with Year 12 and 13 art students in a
workshop delivered by leading artist
Kurt Jackson. Many professional and
semi-professional artists contributed
to the exhibition too with painting,
printmaking, photography and pottery. To celebrate the event Jacqi Hodgson, Mayor of Totnes, and Isabel Carlisle
of Transition Network spoke about the quality and diversity of the work on show and Global Harmony performed with
songs set to the words of Alice Oswald’s
Dart
Poem.

South West Academy of Fine and
Applied Arts ran an exhibition
earlier this term for artists in Years
11–13 to reward, celebrate and
share their creativity as part of
their Young Artists Exhibition and
School Art Awards.
As part of the exhibition, Devon
schoolswereaskedtosubmitentries
for a County-wide competition. We
are proud to announce that Year 13
KEVICC student, Molly Allen, won
the competition for her painting.
Congratulations to an extremely
talented and hard-working artist
who thoroughly deserves the
acclamation – and the cash prize
that came along with it!
Tim Wightman, Team Leader of Art
We at KEVICC were honoured and privileged to
be visited in October by one of Britain's leading
landscape artists, Kurt Jackson. Teachers and
students involved in his talk and workshop were
really inspired!
His visit was part of a series of workshops and
extra-curricular opportunities as part of our Big
Draw
Dart Watershed Project
. He visited our
Gallery exhibition and the work produced during
the day with him has been added to our show.
This includes the huge collaborative painting
shown with the students and staff involved in the
workshop.
