give students
an exciting opportunity to take part
in a fascinating extra-curricular
activity, with the opportunity to
develop skills and win awards.
Their support for Sports Day in the
summer was much appreciated too.

sections of the award.
These walks vary from
a Saturday morning
walk along the River
Dart, to a few weekend
moorland walks. The
current D. of E. groups are working very hard to
complete their awards with activities ranging
through Mechanics; Drama production; creating
our Young Co-ops Eco Council and much, much
more. This Year should see a whole host of
students gaining the nationally recognised
awards which we hope will give them a breadth of
knowledge and experience to help them in their
personal developments.

In the summer James Holden, former KEVICC student, played in the European 7 a-side
European Championship in Maia in Portugal with the Northern Irish CPISRA football squad.
The 2014 - 2015 PE House competitions started this term with
House Rugby and House Netball tournaments. The Girls’ Netball
competition was very successful, with all houses in each of the
Year groups represented with large squads. A great effort was
made by all to both play competitively and to support each other.
Babbage house did exceptionally well, winning first place in three
of the Year groups. The results are:

Sports Personality Evening
After the passing of another Year in the PE department, what better way to
celebrate all of the incredible achievements by our students than by hosting
the fifth annual Sports Personality Award Evening? Alongside our traditional
awards, this Year saw the addition of a host of new awards including
Outstanding Achievement Award; Outstanding Talent Award; Primary
Commitment to Sport and PE and the Inspire Award.
The Outstanding Talent Award went to Ewan Baker – a very strong Judo
competitor, who has represented the South West this Year. He was
fortunate enough to represent the region in a competition in Belgium. In
this competition he was up against people a Year older than himself, and
performed with great technique and precision.
We were overwhelmed by the progress and achievements of Able Sharpe,
who has overcome many challenges since joining the College in Year 7 and
was always a keen sportsman. In Year 11, he became a member of the Boccia
team and has gone on to win a County competition, making him the Devon
Boccia Champion, which is a truly fantastic achievement.
