Foundation Art
The Foundation Art Course is an intensive and fun
'post A- Level' one year art & design course with,
as its main aim, securing its students a place
on a prestigious art and design, or architecture,
degree course. Students undertake a course in
the basic principles of painting, printmaking,
textiles and clothing, sculpture, photography and
bookbinding; then they underpin these disciplines
with a thorough grounding in drawing, formal
language and art history. After a residential visit
to London art colleges and exhibitions, students
specialise and begin to approach their work from
an undergraduate perspective.
The students produce a professional portfolio and
are given up-to-date careers advice and interview
preparation for their university applications.
The year culminates in a Final Major Project
professional 'Summer Show', open to the public.

Features > Art and Drama trip
I only came on this trip at the last minute
but I'm glad I did – it was amazing! The
highlight, for me, was our walk over
the High Line. This is a disused railway
line that has been turned into a tourist
attraction, but it is also a briliant bit of
sustainablity in action.

The trip has had a huge influence
on my BTEC work in Art and Design
since I came back from New York.
It was a wonderful experience seeing
the modern art and architecture
in the City, and the rebuilding at
Ground Zero.
Max French
I really loved the Jersey Boys on Broadway
and couldn't believe the view from the top
of The Rock! I lost my expensive phone on
the last day, shopping on 5th Avenue, and
the relief of having it returned by a lovely
local man was massive – that's something
I'll never forget .
